Half Marathon!  This fast and well shaded half

marathon will begin and end in Monument Valley Park

in Colorado Springs and follow the Greenway Trail on

an out and back 13.1 mile route.

Date: July 4th 2014

Distance: 13.1 miles - Half Marathon

Location: The Half on the 4th Half Marathon will be held in Colorado Springs, Monument Valley Park southwest of Cache La Poudre St.  For a map of the park, click on Race Map above.  Coming into Colorado Springs from either north or south you will be taking I 25. Exit Uintah St east and take a right on Cascade Ave.  Take another right on Cache La Poudre St and it will take you into the park.  Look for street parking before you enter the park as spots along the park will fill fast.

Start Time: 7:00am July 4th 2014

Packet Pick Up: Packet pickup will be at Boulder Running Company (3659 Austin Bluffs Pkwy #32 Colorado Springs) on July 3rd from 11:00am-6:00pm. We will also have race morning packet pickup at the park on starting at 6:00am. It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you pick up your packets on July 3rd. Our volunteers work hard, but it is inevitable that there will be a line at pack pickup race morning and to avoid this please pick up your packet on July 3rd if at all possible.

Course: The half marathon will follow Greenway Trail south out of Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs until approximately 1 mile south of the El Pomar Youth Sports Complex and return on same route.  The course is a mix of cement and hard pack pea gravel.  This is a very fast course that follows Fountain Creek.  There is a light downhill on the way out and a slight uphill on the way back. Family and friends who are watching the race will be able to see the start, drive to the El Pomar Youth Sports Complex to see their racer at mile 5.5 and 6.5 (as they are coming back) and be able to drive back to the finish in time.

Time Cut off: The official time cut off is 4 hours. If you feel this will be an issue please contact the race director clintknox@spreeracing.com


Aid Stations: There will be aid stations at every mile and toilets along the course.

                         * All registration except packet pickup and race day registration will done online through Active.com  A small
                            online registration fee will be added.  July 3rd registration will be done during packet pickup, location to be

                            determined. Race day registration will begin at 6:00am at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs, no

                            additional fee will be added to race day registration.

Swag: All participants will receive a free t-shirt and medals for finishers. We will have specific t-shirt's for men and women! (the women's shirts won't be as small as last year) NOTE: T-shirts: We have seen an increase in the Half on the 4th of over 100 runners! Because of this we will need to put in a second order of shirts. If you signed up after July 27th you may need to get your race shirt after the event. For those that sign up late, their shirts will be available for pick up at Boulder Running Company during business hours from July 23-30th. If you live out of town we can mail your your shirt as needed.


Swimming Pool: There is a community swimming pool next to the race start that opens at 10:00am.


Parking: Parking is available on Mesa Rd and other side streets by Monument Valley Park. That being said you will find it much easier to park in either the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center parking lot at 30 W Dale or Colorado College’s E1 lot at the corner of Nevada and San Rafael. Both organizations have graciously agreed to allow participants to park in these lots on July 4th.

Course Surface: This is a fast course with a mix of cement and hard pack pea gravel.

Timing: The Half on the 4th Half Marathon will be timed with race results posted soon after the race.
